HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
It is said that this town rose from the ashes of a village destroyed in the 10th century and was called ‘Ponte dei Prati’. In 1606 it was by the Invrea family of Gonzaga . In the 17th century it became the property of the Imperial family. in July 1846, Pontinvrea became a municipality, through a royal decree of Charles Albert of Savoy. It later was later incoporatted into the Republic of Genova passed under Genoa and has been a part of Savona since 1927.
