Have you always dreamt of horse riding? Take advantage of your holiday to go horse riding in the province of Imperia! The best way to reach a riding school in the Imperia hinterland is to rent a vehicle.
Would you like to completely disconnect from your daily life and treat yourself to a relaxing weekend immersed in nature? A horseback excursion in the Imperia hinterland could be the ideal solution. This activity can be done with family or friends, whether you are a beginner or an expert.
How does one go on a horseback excursion?
Discover the area in which you are staying as well as on foot or by car: this is what horse riding allows you to do. Generally, this activity lasts longer than a simple equestrian walk. From a minimum of one day, up to ten days , horse riding allows us to take the time to admire surrounding landscapes . It is also a time when you discover man’s most beautiful conquest: the horse. Spending several days doing this allows you to bond with your travelling companion, to take care of him by brushing and feeding him and to discover the joys of riding. If, on the other hand, you do not have time for such a long excursion, but only have a weekend at your disposal, you could opt for a walk of a few hours. For example, there is a 9 hours route that takes you to the Ligurian Alps. After a long walk you can stop at Colle di San Bernardo di Mendatica and spend the night in a refuge.
Discovering the Ligurian Alps on horseback
If you wish to spend a relaxing weekend riding a horse, the Imperia hinterland offers countless routes. The walk we recommend starts from the Colle di San Bernardo di Mendatica and will take you to the highest peaks of the Ligurian Alps, on the border between Liguria, Piedmont and France. To reach the meeting point where you will have already brought your horses, the best solution will be to hire a vehicle. In fact, the Colle di San Bernardo di Mendatica is not served by public transport or trains. In this way, you can travel to the meeting point easily and safely. From here a fantastic guided horseback excursion will begin, allowing you to discover magical, unspoilt places until you reach the Don Barbera Refuge in the heart of the Marguareis Natural Park. There you can spend the night. The facility is also equipped to receive horses. Unfortunately , due to snow, this route is ideal only in summer.
